Elizabeth Taylor's diamond dress rings to go to auction

15/09/2011

Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor died at the age of 79 back in March 2011, come December her jewellery including diamond dress rings will be put up for auction. Taylor survived eight marriages, so it can be safely assumed that Taylor will have amassed a large collection of diamond rings. She is even quoted to have said that jewellery was one of the three loves of her life. In 1963, she starred in the film Cleopatra alongside Richard Burton, which led to their marriage.  Included in the auction is a 33.19- carat Krupp diamond dress ring, which was a gift from Burton. Taylor was a lifetime advocate of AIDS/HIV research and the proceeds of the sale will go to her Elizabeth Taylor AIDS foundation.  The whole collection of over 300 pieces is said to be valued at £18.8 million.
